The Department of Geography and the UNESCO Chair on Geoparks and Sustainable Development of insular and coastal areas of the University of the Aegean in collaboration with the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the National Observatory of Athens and the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean operate the Inter-institutional Postgraduate Program “Natural Hazards and Disaster Mitigation”.

The aim of the Postgraduate Program is to provide theoretical and applied knowledge of spatial issues and their modern management approaches, using the methods and techniques of Geographic Information Science.

The Department of Geography of the University of the Aegean offers doctoral studies, which lead to the acquisition of a doctoral degree in a wide range of scientific research.
