Networking and Synergies

Networking and synergies among universities and between Universities, local communities and key-stakeholder

The UNESCO Chair on Geoparks and Sustainable Development of Insular and Coastal Areas aims to support networking and create the opportunities for synergy, coordination and enhancement of research among universities and between Universities, local community and other key-stakeholder (NGOs, the private sector, etc) on sustainable development, geoconservation risks and impacts of hazards, climatic change adaptation.
In this direction the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development seeks the expansion of international exchange and cooperation between Geoparks.
Νetworking and exchange between Geoparks will enhance greatly their impact through the protection and sustainable use of natural resources and designate them as learning sites for sustainable management of natural resources, observatories of responsible consumption and production and mechanisms for  promoting scientific cooperation and peace building.
Thus the Geoparks contribute to the development of a new global learning space on education and sustainability that promotes cooperation and exchange between institutions at all levels and in all sectors of education around the world.
