To enhance capacity building activities on major sustainable development issues in insular and coastal Geoparks
The UNESCO Chair on Geoparks and Sustainable Development of Insular and Coastal Areas aims to enhance capacity building activities on the sustainable heritage management and other major sustainable development issues in insular and coastal regions.
Insular and coastal regions have accumulated environmental problems linked to unsustainable development and lack of appropriate practices.
The objective is to enhance their ability to confront challenges and built synergies through an extended series of capacity building activities and seminars organized by the University of the Aegean and implemented in collaboration with various collaborating partners.
Synergies with collaborating universities and schools as well as other partners acting together will be made on key sustainable development issues.
